Quick lunch break and headed for my daily jaunt to the Lea Marsh area near all the Car Garages around Preston Docklands way. Mate Eric from work tagged along to show him the Whitethroat that I was sort of teasing by mimicking its call hahahaha. Anyway walked quite far saw quite a bit and then out of the corner of my eye I saw the mother of all Caterpillars!!!! Black, Orange, bristling with hairs… looked like something from the movie … I cant dam well remember the name AARRGGHHH!!!
Anyway fired off a few shots as suddenly got a strange interest in Moths and Butterflies (going be...

Taken at Barton Grange Garden Centre. Proves that taking your camera with you EVERYWHERE works. There was a falconry display on, as much as I did not agree with the birds being placed on a stand an shown off I just had to get a photo of one of my favourite birds… the Barn Owl.
As much as I appreciated everyone shoving a camera in the poor birds face I decided to go for a different angle and take a shot of one of the birds tools of the trade… its talons. On converting to black and white I got an image that I am very proud...

Decided on Friday that I WOULD get out this weekend and find a love for my photography again. Over the past few weeks I have been seriously over critical and also very uninspired with my photography, so after waking up this morning with a seriously bad hangover (heavy night), I looked out of the window to find that it was unbelievable foggy and for some grim reason the first thing that came to mind was….. GRAVEYARD. Yes, I thought that freezing fog would make for some interesting images, this is partly true as you can see below.
Once again I forgot about shooting into the sun so the...

While I was sat at my desk in my man cave editing some photos.. yes man cave!!! I realised I had never tried a self portrait. From reading on a few sites it’s also quite a personal situation taking a self portrait as you are usually the one pointing the camera at other people, therefore criticizing each self portrait taken. To take the shot I decided that I wanted this to be a moody low light shot, then realised that the only light in the room was coming from my PC monitor …PERFECT… shadows, dark backgrounds and only myself slightly illuminated. Giving the camera a...

Well after wanting to do a proper photoshoot since the first day I started photography, my good friend Jo volunteered to be my model for the day. So with camera bag, lens and tripod at the ready I headed down to the sand dunes at St. Annes to meet up with Jo. Was good to hear from Jo that this is something she enjoys doing, loves editing photos to get different styles of images, so from that point I knew this was going to be a good shoot.
After 2 cups of coffee and a chat with Jo, we then scaled the dunes opposite Pontin’s (or Auschwitz as I like to call it), the sun was out, the...

Decided on Thursday of last week that myself and Liz would go on a trail for Red Squirrels. After 2 days research and some very helpful information from a Cumbrian bird watcher, we decided that Whinlatter Park in Keswick and Dodd Wood at the foot of Skiddaw would be the 2 best places to try get a few shots of these quickly declining gorgeous animals.
Liz being the star that she is packed up the biggest lunch I have seen, infact this also included breakfast. Breakfast!!! I hear you shout, yep that was because at 8:30am we were on the road to the Lake District, therefore breakfast on the...

After a quick day at work (seemed to be over in no time!!!), I got home to be greated by Liz who had put on a pot of coffee. Oh bless the lass, she certainly knows the way to my heart and thats a dam good cup of fresh coffee!!!
Anyway, while I was in the back garden keeping and eye on our 2 mischievous cats Mario and Yoshi, the local gang of Goldfinches were flitting around waiting for the cats to go in so they could have their fill of sunflower hearts on our garden feeders. While I was watching them in our neighbours tree, I got close enough to fire off…..wait for it….. 25...

Woke up and decided Sunday was the day to clean the house up. So myself and Liz gutted the place and after all this drove up to Cleveleys for a walk down the new promenade area that has been created. Came across a fishing tournament and tried to fire off a few shots but was to much sunlight in my face so did not turn out as I wanted. Continued to walk and came across a flock of 4 birds which seemed quite strange to me as usually your looking at around a flock of 15-30. Was lucky enough for these birds to land not to far from us and noticed 3 were Ringed Plovers and 1 was a solitary...

Taken in early May this year. The weather seemed calm but as soon as I got to the Promenade it was blowing a gale. No one around but still the picture does not show how the weather changed so much at the coast. Please see Black & White catergory for more shots from that...

Well its getting there with these night shots, prefer this from the prior due to the lights over Blackpool causing a better effect. Like I have mentioned before, it was probably to dark, therefore next time it will have to be...
